New Jerusalem: The Cubic Holy of Holies
The city whose length, width, and height are equal: all creation transformed into the inner sanctuary.
In Revelation 21, the angel measures the New Jerusalem descending from heaven: its length, width, and height are all equal (12,000 stadia). In the entire Hebrew Bible, only one structure has equal length, width, and height: the Holy of Holies in Solomon's Temple (1 Kings 6:20).
The End of Temple Isolation
John notes with amazement: 'I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb.' The veil is not merely torn; the entire renewed cosmos has become the inner sanctuary of God, fulfilling the ancient promise: 'Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man.'
